Under Armour Christmas Classic – Day 4 Recap

In the final day of the inaugural Under Armour Christmas Classic all four Baseball Factory had something to fight for. The Red team was vying for the third place spot in the tournament. The White team got the chance to battle the original number one seeded team in the consolation bracket. The Navy team was looking for their first win and the Royal team, who was playing Navy, wanted to go out with a win.

As the temperatures reached the upper 60s the players, parents, coaches and scouts all felt like this was going to be a special day. The temperature was not the only thing that was heating up. The bats started to ignite and the White team was taking full advantage of it. From top to bottom in their order they all hit. It wasn’t just singles either. The White team was consistently driving the ball deep to the gaps some of them one or two hopping the 400+ fences. The White team went on to win the game holding off a late charge in the last inning by the Players Baseball Academy.

The Royal team got exactly what they were looking for in a last game. They played solid defense had consistent hitting and overall had a very solid team approach to their final game. The Navy team gave a ton of effort out on the field but unfortunately their final record does not show their work ethic.

In the third place game the Red team was pitted against the Baltimore Oriole Elite. A rematch of their final round robin game two days prior. However, the Red team could not muster another close game with a late comeback. The Red team had lost a very close and emotional semi-final game the day before and it was evident that the loss stayed with them. They did not play up to their abilities, but they have nothing to be ashamed about. They all played a great tournament and learned a lot from their coaches.

Today the players depart from the desert after playing in at least five competitive games. They take with them the experience of playing in a national tournament against some top opponents, meeting new players from around the country and learning from some of the best coaches in the game.
