Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Spotlight – Shreveport, LA

The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Tour makes a stop in Shreveport, LA to Centenary College on Sunday, December 13th. The Cyclones play in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and finished with a record of 17-15 this past season.

Sam Capielano – Capielano, a 2013 graduate from Holy Cross High School in River Ridge, LA, was a four-year player on varsity under head coach, Greg Batistella. He was named an All-District and All-State selection in both his junior and senior seasons. His defense was his calling card, being named Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, and Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. A District MVP as a junior, Capielano was a representative for Team Louisiana in 2012.

Sam attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in Chalmette, LA, less than ten miles from New Orleans back in May of 2011.

After graduation, Capielano moved onto the University of New Orleans to play baseball for the Privateers and during his freshman season in 2014, started all 49 games at shortstop, leading the team in batting average (.341) and was first among all Southland freshmen. Chipped in with 19 RBIs and scored 28 runs and sported an 11-game hitting streak late during that season. Last season, he battled an aggravating ankle injury that derailed his season, hitting .239 in 28 games. Capielano finished the season with eight RBI and 11 runs scored.
