Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Spotlight – San Antonio, TX

The Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout Tour travels to the Tejeda Sports Complex in San Antonio, TX on Sunday, January 10th.

Brandon Colorado – Colorado called Honolulu, Hawaii his hometown, but lived in San Antonio and attended Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio where he played varsity baseball for three seasons and was a 2nd Team All-District Catcher during his junior year season.

The catcher graduated from high school in 2014 but got started with Baseball Factory by attending the 2012 Under Armour Firecracker 18U Classic, followed by an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in San Antonio in January, 2013. The athletic backstop was invited to participate in the 2013 Under Armour Southwest Championships where he showed off his speed in the 60 (6.94), and outstanding pop times between 2.01 and 2.19 with accuracy. He did it with the bat during the event as well, collecting five hits with a double and triple in 11 at-bats. At his Under Armour Baseball Factory College PREP event in Glendora, CA in August of 2013, Colorado showed a pop time of 2.06 and scouts noted his ability to receive the ball well behind the plate.

Colorado received the rare opportunity to play alongside a sibling in college, going to Texas A&M International, where his brother, Michael, also a Baseball Factory alum, was a junior infielder in 2015. Brandon started three games for the DustDevils, collecting five hits in 11 at-bats, with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored last season.

Cody Richey – Richey is a 2013 grad from Comfort High School in Comfort, TX where he played baseball, football and basketball for the school and gained a list of accomplishments, including earning First Team All-District honors in baseball his sophomore year, the District MVP as a junior and senior, and All-District honors in football as a junior.

After attending a National Tryout in San Antonio in January, 2012, Richey played in the USA 17U Championships in June of that year and participated in the 2012 Team One Texas Showcase in October. He showed as a big strong right-handed bat at the Texas event, with both of his hits that weekend going for doubles. On the mound, he threw mid 80’s with a fastball that had heavy sink and movement.

Initially deciding to go to Cisco Junior College in 2014 to play, Richey transferred to the University of Incarnate Word to play for the Cardinals. Richey made 16 appearances on the mound and was a spot starter for the team. He pitched five innings, striking out seven batters at UT-Pan American to earn his first career victory. Overall, went 3-3 with a 5.62 ERA.

Brayden Theriot – Theriot is a 2015 grad from Elkins High School in Sugar Land, TX where he played under head coach Tyler Porter. Besides being a stand out on the field where he earned First-Team All-District honors and in the pool where he competed in swimming and qualified for states, he excelled in the classroom, achieving academic merit all four years while at Elkins.

Theriot attended the 2013 Under Armour Futures Series Texas event as a physical, strong two-way athlete who showed tremendous pull power and ran a 6.97 60-yard dash. He improved three tenths of a second on his 60 at his National Tryout day in San Antonio in February, 2014 and improved on his hitting, posting hitting/power grades at pro level.

He’ll take his talents to Texas State University where he will play for the Bobcats in 2016. Theriot was part of a group of 12 players, all hailing from Texas, who signed with Texas State in late 2014.
