The Baseball Factory: matchmaker for high school players and colleges
Ellicott City, MD – Steve Sclafani has turned his own experience or perhaps it would be best to say frustration into a successful business.
The best thing about Sclafani’s Baseball Factory is what it’s doing to help match high school baseball players with colleges.
“Our goal is to find colleges where the players will flourish both on and off the field,” Sclafani says.
“The idea grew our of my own experience. I would send letters to college coaches and they all wanted a recommendation from a pro scout and video tape of a practice.”
The Baseball Factory provides it all for the players. Here is a quick glance of what is offered:
- Workout at a professional stadium
- showcase talent before scouts and coaches
- Players are videotaped at the workout
- A panel of professional scouts reviews the videos and rates the players
- 50 Videos are sent to college with a pro evaluation
- Players receive five copies of the video for their own use
- 1,500 college coaches are exposed to player’s evaluation on the Internet
- Special seminars for parents at each Baseball Factory showcase
- Expert advice from top former college and pro players
- Year around follow-up with newsletters and a personal Baseball Factory representative
Sclafani, a University of Pennsylvania graduate, is proud of his company’s track record.
“In 1998 alone, we assisted in attaining more than 10 million dollars in scholarship money for over 1,000 players nationwide,” he said.
