Summer in the Cape

Founded in 1885, the Cape Cod Summer League (CCBL) in Cape Cod, Massachusetts is one of the most illustrious college summer leagues in the United States. It pits the top college players from around the country in competitive and demanding wood-bat exhibition games and professional scouts are commonly found watching league games with the hopes of uncovering future Major League stars.  The league has a long-standing tradition of alumni who go on to play in the big leagues. In fact, during the 2012 season 253 CCBL alumni were on active rosters in the majors.

Many CCBL players who've joined the ranks of MLB stars include former Baseball Factory alumni like Mark Teixeira and Aaron Hill. In fact, Baseball Factory has a long history of players who spend their summer in the Cape; currently one out of every five CCBL players are Factory alumni.  We're proud of all our players selected to the CCBL this summer, including a couple of prospects who've already made an impact:

Mike Ford plays third base for the Princeton Tigers, where this past season he batted .320 with 6 HRs and 38 RBIs.  He is off to a hot start with the Kettleers this summer, batting .407 with 5 HRs and 18 RBIs.  Ford attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in 2007 before being selected to the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament.

Trey Killian pitches for Arkansas and in his past season for the Razorbacks went 3-3 with a 3.19 ERA.  Thus far for the Gatemen, Killian is 0-3 with a 4.55 ERA.  Killian, primarily a reliever at Arkansas, is getting a chance to start in the CCBL while pitching in the Gatemen’s rotation.  Killian is a former Under Armour All-American.

Baseball Factory’s connection to the Cape Cod Baseball League goes beyond our former players’ involvement. As an Official Sponsor of CCBL, we also conduct world-class training events for three weeks every summer at Spillane Field, home of the Wareham Gatemen. The Baseball Factory Cape Cod Select Training and Competition gives players the opportunity to receive expert instruction with Baseball Factory’s top-notch training staff, while experiencing the legacy of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

From developing young players at the Cape Cod Select Training and Competition event, to watching our former players succeed at the collegiate level and compete in the CCBL, we look forward to heading north to the Cape every summer. For some players the Cape is just the beginning of their baseball careers, as they work to Build Their Way to Greatness and achieve their dream of playing at the highest level. We congratulate all our former players who’ve reached the prestigious CCBL and look forward to continuing to develop the young prospects who trained with us at the Cape this summer!
