Player Development, Winning Characterize Baseball Factory 12U’s Season

Baseball Factory 12U, a Pensacola, Florida-based traveling team sponsored by Team One/Baseball Factory, finished its season on a winning note by being named the 2006 BPA World Series 12U Silver Champions. The 22-team World Series was the culmination of the team’s season and took place June 29 through July 3 in Franklin, Tennessee.

Going out on top was a fitting end for Baseball Factory 12U’s stellar season. The World Series was just one of many tournaments that team placed well in. Baseball Factory 12U was also named Smoltz-Grissom Wood Bat Classic 12U AAA Champions, ASP Hardball Classic Consolation Champions, and the runners-up at the 12U Traveling Eagles Spring Break USSSA Classic.

While assistant coach Mac Seibert was “certainly pleased with the way the kids played in the World Series, we are equally excited about their development as players.” He adds, “We have witnessed a trend in youth baseball to play more and more games with less emphasis on individual skill development. To win the World Series was actually icing on the cake; our main focus from day one was that each player improved.”

Head Coach John Quina, whose goal for the team was to “develop young athletes”, was proud of the growth his players made throughout the season. “The best moment of the year was when our players finally bought in to our speeches about playing hard every time you step on the field. As a coach, there is no better feeling than to watch your team (every single player) battle on every pitch and every play during the entire game. After that happened you didn’t want to be next on our schedule.” Coach Quina thought his season ran smoothly due to a “great group of parents and players. We had a great season and I’m looking forward to next year!”
