Sabattus, ME – Coach Bill Fairchild calls his 15-year old sophomore left-hander Mike Eaton “the best pitcher, at his age, I’ve had in 30 years of coaching” here at Oak Hill High.
As a freshman, Eaton not only was a starter in baseball, but also in soccer and as a point guard in basketball.
“He has as much potential as I’ve ever seen,” continued Fairchild, who calls Eaton a “Tom Glavine-type pitcher.”
Eaton threw in the 80s last year, but Fairchild believes the 5-10, 155 pounder will add to his velocity as he develops. “He’s also a very smart pitcher,” said Fairchild.
Eaton also is a fine hitter for Oak Hill, the defending Class B Maine State Champion. He starts in the outfield when he’s not pitching.
