JOSH KENDALL – Featured PUMA Pre-season All American
Josh Kendall, 3B
Soquel High School (Santa Cruz, CA)
As of April 13, Kendall had already put up an impressive season’s worth of numbers at the plate. His line:
.443 Batting average (27 for 61)
26 Runs
27 RBI
10 Home Runs
His 10th home run tied the Soquel high school record, as well as what is believed to be the county record. His 11th home run came Friday April, 15 and broke both records.
Kendall hit 5 home runs in 2004, and led the Santa Cruz Coastal Athletic League with a .417 batting average. He attended a B.A.T.S. event in Long Beach, CA that summer and then attended the Baseball Factory’s Christmas Camp & Tournament at Dodgertown (FL).
After two outstanding showings in 2004, Kendall was selected by the Baseball Factory scouting staff as a 2005 PUMA Pre-season All American. He attended the showcase in Tempe, AZ in January 2005, and was named as one of the Top 30 Senior Prospects after his performance there.
Kendall is also a talented defensive player. He has good feet and body control to go with soft hands and a strong throwing arm. He can move his 6 foot 4, 200 pound frame with surprising quickness, and ran the 60-yard dash in the 7.20 second range.
He has not committed to a college yet, though he is drawing a good amount of attention lately.
We would like to congratulate Josh on his accomplishments so far this season, and wish him the best of luck as he and his team work towards the Central Coast Section playoffs.
