Former Baseball Factory player Jeremy Brown Throws 7-Inning No-Hitter to Lead Johns Hopkins Past No. 19 Lakeland
Former Baseball Factory pitcher Jeremy Brown threw seven innings of no-hit ball to lead the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays to a 9-0 win over no. 19 Lakeland on Saturday, March 8. Brown’s feat was just the sixth no-hitter in the history of Johns Hopkins University. The senior struck out 12 and walked only one batter to complete the first Blue Jay no-hitter since April 7, 2001.
According to Hopkinssports.com, Brown has the ability to be the team’s ace this year. He is currently the co-captain, has excellent velocity and movement on his fastball, and also throws a slider and a splitfinger. Last year, Brown compiled a 5-1 record in nine starts and struck out 46 in 54.2 innings of work. He also recorded a save and pitched a complete game shutout.
Earlier on March 8, Baseball Factory alumni Russ Berger and Jason Thayer pitched in the Blue Jay’s season-opening 13-4 win over Albion. Berger started the game and allowed just four hits in 4.2 innings of work while picking up the win. Thayer pitched an inning in relief to help secure JHU’s first win of the season.
