Factory Players Baltimore, MD
LOCATION: Baseball Factory Field at UMBC
For every SCR | Under Armour Tryout Event throughout the United States & Canada Baseball Factory Scouts will be selecting several categories of Factory players that include the Top Prospect, Top Underclassmen, Top Hitter, Top Pitcher, and Diamond in the Rough (when applicable).
Please Note: Many players are selected for our Under Armour National Tournament and Training Camps that do not appear on the Factory Players List. The Tournament and Training Camp selections take into consideration the player’s entire performance and how the scouts feel they will perform in a National setting. A player might have performed well enough to be selected for a Tournament or Training Camp, but may not have been the most elite from the day.
TOP PROSPECT: Chris Branigan | LHP/1B | 6’3/205 | Bishop Eustace (NJ) HS | 2009 – Branigan is fun to watch. A borderline big league body and very easy actions at the plate, on the mound, and at 1st base makes him almost a certain two-way guy at the collegiate level. Chris should also be a sub 7 runner as he matures, which could translate into OF potential to utilize his athletic ability.
TOP UNDERCLASSMEN: Aaron Lee | MIF | 5’10/165 | Mt. Saint Joseph (MD) HS | 2010 – Aaron is a smooth fielding MIF that showed an advanced approach at the plate. His strengths are his glove and his approach and his arm, foot speed, and power will surely improve as he matures physically.
TOP PITCHER: Matt Alvarez | RHP/SS | 6’2/180 | Princeton (NJ) HS | 2009 – Alvarez has a live arm with a heavy, heavy FB. He topped at 89 mph and was sitting 85-87 with a CB that flashed excellent action. Matt will continue to improve and gain velocity on a pitch that could already be effective at the next level.
MATTINGLY BASEBAL TOP HITTER: Chris Branigan | LHP/1B | 6’3/205 | Bishop Eustace (NJ) HS | 2009 – Showed a smooth left handed stroke with excellent balance and the ability to use the entire field. A talented, athletic player that will be fun to follow over the next couple of years.
The Factory Undeniable Players were selected by Jim Gemler (Director of On-Field Sessions | Scouting Coordinator).
