Clint Hurdle, MLB Manager and Hitting Advisor to Baseball Factory, to make appearance at Colorado Springs B.A.T.S. Session

Baseball Factory is proud to announce that Clint Hurdle, MLB Manager and Hitting Advisor to Baseball Factory, will make a special guest appearance at the Colorado Springs, Colorado B.A.T.S. Session later this summer.

Hurdle, who has been the Hitting Advisor to Baseball Factory for the past two years, will talk with players and parents before the July 19 event at Sky Sox Stadium, and will work with players on the field and in the batting cage.  Hurdle will share his extensive experience in baseball with the Baseball Factory players in attendance and help them to improve their techniques and confidence on the field.

Hurdle has coached professionally since 1988 and has been with the Colorado Rockies organization since 1994. He served as the club’s roving hitting instructor from 1994-1996, 1st base coach from 1997-1998, and hitting coach from 1998-2002. Clint was promoted to the position of Manager during the 2002 season. During his first four seasons with Rockies hitters, the club established the NL club home-run record (239 in 1997), compiled the NL’s top two club averages in 70 years (.294 in 2000 and .291 in 1998), the league’s most base hits since 1930 (1,664 in 2000), and in 1999 established NL records with 2,696 total bases and 567 extra-base hits, each the highest league marks since 1930. Hurdle was a high school batting sensation himself and was drafted in the 1st round by the Kansas City Royals where he went on to play ten seasons, highlighted by a .417 batting average in the 1980 World Series.

Hurdle officially joined Baseball Factory as the Hitting Advisor in May, 2002, but previously worked numerous events including the Dodgertown Christmas Camp and Tournament and the All American Weekend.  Hurdle continues to attend various Baseball Factory events throughout the MLB off-season, sharing his knowledge with players, parents and coaches.  Hurdle’s incredible desire to help young players improve has been a perfect match with Baseball Factory’s focused approach to player development.

The B.A.T.S. session at Sky Sox Stadium will take place on Monday, July 19, 2004 from 8 A.M. to 1 P.M.  The session is open to high school aged players with the desire and ability to play college baseball.  Players may have to provide a recommendation from their high school or summer coach in order to participate.  The session is limited to 55 players so players must register prior to the event.

This is the first Baseball Factory event that Hurdle has been able to take part in during the MLB season.  This session is a great opportunity for high school players to meet Clint Hurdle while taking the important first steps on their road to college baseball and beyond!
