Baseball Factory adds 25 years of Division I coaching experience and 737 victories to the staff

Former University of Kentucky head coach joins the Exclusive Team

Columbia, MD, September 16, 2005 – Baseball Factory, the leader in player development and college placement, is happy to announce that Keith Madison, former Head Coach at the University of Kentucky, has agreed to be the inaugural member of the Exclusive Program Advisory Board.  Madison will work with the Exclusive staff to help expand the company’s contacts in college and professional baseball, as well as helping to place our current Exclusive players into college.  The announcement was made by Baseball Factory president Rob Naddelman.

“Keith is a legend in college baseball and has an impeccable reputation,” said Naddelman

A native of Brownsville, Kentucky, Madison became the head baseball coach at UK in 1978 at the age of 26.  He took over a team that had finished in last place in the SEC Eastern Division the previous year, setting the school record for losses in a season.  In his first year he went 29-18 and set a school record for victories in a season, a complete turn around that only marked more positive things to come.  25 years and 737 career victories later, Madison stepped down in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of winning baseball in the Bluegrass state.  His teams averaged 29 wins a season; he set a University of Kentucky record with 41 victories in 1991; and reached the NCAA Tournament in 1988 and 1993.

Some stats from Madison’s impressive resume:

  • 25 years as the University of Kentucky head coach
  • 737 wins ranks third in SEC history behind only Ron Polk and Skip Bertman
  • 41 wins in 1991 set the single-season win record at Kentucky
  • 85 Wildcats that played under Madison were either drafted or signed professional baseball contracts
  • 14 reached the Major League level
  • 44 All-SEC selections
  • 9 All-Americans
  • 89 Academic All-SEC selections

Madison was also recognized in 1995 by the American Baseball Coaches Association when his peers elected him to serve as the organization’s vice-president.  He would later go on to serve as the ABCA president in 2000.  Madison also had the privilege to serve as the 1999 pitching coach for the USA Baseball team.

Naddelman stressed the impact that Madison will make at Baseball Factory.  “We are very excited to have Keith on board.  He will work to help us grow our Advisory Board and expand the Exclusive Program on a national level.  Also, his contacts and expertise will be instrumental in helping our staff to place our Exclusive Players into targeted programs.”

Madison will begin working with Baseball Factory and the Exclusive Program on September 16.  The Baseball Factory and Team One staff is unmatched in the industry, boasting over 35 full time employees with over 70 years of professional and college coaching experience.
