Baseball Factory 2015 MLB Draft Coverage – Game Producers

When it’s game time, guys who can hit and produce when it counts, will often find their name in the everyday lineup.

Steve Bernhardt, Chairman of the Under Armour Selection Committee and Vice President of Baseball Operations for Baseball Factory, previews four draft-eligible game producers who will do just that. Ryan Mountcastle, Chris Betts, Kody Clemens and Josh Naylor all have the ability to be major run producers and game changers for the organization that selects them in the 2015 MLB Draft.

Mountcastle, a right-handed hitter from Hagerty High School in Oviedo, FL, has been facing top-level pitching for quite some time now and isn’t intimidated by pitchers who have quality stuff, combining pitch recognition, bat speed and hand-eye coordination that has led to a solid track record of offensive success, one that should continue as he ascends the professional ranks. This is a guy who could be a solid run producer in the middle of a team’s order down the road.

Betts, a southern California native, is a left-handed hitting catcher who has an impressive swing from the left side with not many holes in it. He squares up the baseball consistently with the barrel and it doesn’t seem to matter the caliber of pitcher he faces on the mound, he is confident in the box with his abilities.

Kody Clemens, son of former major league pitcher and seven-time Cy Young Award Winner, Roger Clemens is another high school player with an advanced approach and swing at the plate. Showing a quick, compact, left-handed stroke can catch up with some of the game’s best velocity, leading to balls flying out of all areas of the park.

And finally, Josh Naylor has shown he has the ability to change games and be a run producer when it counts. Last week for his Canadian Junior National Team, Naylor hit five homeruns during the team’s swing through the Dominican Republic. He possesses big time raw power and his overall offensive approach make him one of the more attractive names in this year’s Draft.

Because of his performance, he may have skyrocketed himself into discussion for being selected during the first day of the Draft.
