American Legion and Baseball Factory Announce College Prep Super Regionals

Columbia, MD (April 19, 2010) – American Legion and Baseball Factory announced today the development of College Prep Super Regionals. The organizations will hold these events at each American Legion regional site this summer with the goal of assisting hundreds of American Legion players in their search for the right college baseball program. Events will be open to all high school players age 13 – 18. The registration fee is $199 but all American Legion players will receive a $50 discount based on the partnership with Baseball Factory.

The College Prep Super Regionals will help players and parents navigate the often confusing college recruiting process. These events are geared towards serious college bound players that want to take the fast track on the road to college baseball. Each event will include an on-field workout where players will be evaluated on different aspects of the game including pitching, hitting, fielding, arm strength and speed. Baseball Factory’s staff of professional scouts, former professional players and former college coaches will also lead a college recruiting question and answer session. Those in attendance will learn about the college recruiting process and the steps players should take in order to increase their chances of receiving scholarships.

“At Baseball Factory, we strive to educate players and parents on the college recruiting process,” said Steve Sclafani, CEO and Founder of Baseball Factory. “There are numerous pitfalls along the path to college baseball, so the more guidance we can provide, the more success American Legion baseball players will have. Through a professional workout, recruiting seminar and scout’s evaluation, each family should leave the College Prep Super Regionals well on their way towards finding the right college baseball program.”

Baseball Factory is the Official Baseball Resource for American Legion Baseball. Since 1994, Baseball Factory has helped over 30,000 high school players reach their dream of playing college baseball. In addition, over 2,500 players have been drafted and more than 240 have gone on to play in the majors.

Larry Price, National Baseball Subcommittee Chairman for The American Legion said, “we are excited to provide another opportunity to American Legion players. We have sponsored a teenage program for over 85 years to help give kids an opportunity to play baseball and earn a college scholarship. Our partnership with Baseball Factory will only enhance each players chance to be evaluated and once more demonstrated as America’s largest veteran’s organization that not only we care for America’s needy and disabled veterans, we also care about America’s youth.”
