Alumni Impact #9: Filling Up The Stat Sheet

Prince Fielder (2001 Team One National) has also started hot with six 2B, five HRs and 21 RBI to go with his .311 average, .430 on base percentage and .595 slugging percentage.

The Nationals’ Bryce Harper (2008 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) is off to a great start. His impressive stat line includes a .364/.443/.740 split with five doubles, eight home runs and 16 runs batted in already this season.

Mets leader David Wright (2000 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament, 2000 Team One National, 1999 Team One East, and 1998 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) has filled up the stat columns in April with a .300 average, 3 doubles, 3 triples, 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and a league leading 6 stolen bases.

Byron Buxton (2011 Under Armour All-America Game) continues his torrid start. Through 17 games, the 19 year old is leading the Midwest League with a .419 average and has four 2B, three 3B, three HRs, 15 RBI and seven SB.

Mariners prospect Nick Franklin (2008 Under Armour All-America Game) continues to make his case for a Major League promotion by starting the year .400/.509/.600 with three doubles, two home runs, 10 runs batted in and three stolen bases.

Also knocking on the door is Scooter Gennett (2008 Under Armour All-America Game) who is making a case for a call-up. He is one of the top hitters in the PCL with a .400 average, two 2B, one 3B and three SB through 15 games.

Rock Shoulders (2009 Team One South, 2009 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) is off to an outstanding start in the Midwest League. His early stat line includes a .406 average, .656 slugging percentage, four doubles, four home runs and 13 runs batted in.

Stephen Vogt (2002 Baseball Factory Arizona Fall Classic Tournament Team, Baseball Factory Exclusive College Recruiting Program and 2003 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament) continues to feast on AAA pitching. He leads the PCL with a .476 average with six 2B, two 3B, five HR and 17 RBIs.

College

Tanner Anderson (2008 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) of Harvard was named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week. In a 4-2 win over Brown, Anderson pitched a 10 inning complete game for the win, allowing no earned runs. In addition, he hit .357 on the week.

Steve Janas (2007 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) earned Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week honors with a complete game shutout of North Florida. At the time, North Florida was the nation’s top hitting team. The Kennesaw State pitcher has five wins and a 0.70 ERA on the season.

The Big 12 Pitcher of the Week was Harrison Musgrave (2008 Baseball Factory Tournament Team at USA Championships, 2008 Baseball Factory Premium Video Program). The West Virginia University LHP threw a complete game shutout against the University of Texas. On the year Harrison is now 6-1 with a 2.70 ERA.

Albany’s Josh Nethaway (2008 Baseball Factory Tournament Team at UASW Tournament, 2008 Team One North, and 2008 Baseball Factory Premium Video Program) was named the America East Player of the Week for his performance. He hit .500 for the week with a home run, three runs scored and two doubles – one of which produced a walk-off win in the 12th inning against Hartford.

Brian Ragira (2009 Under Armour All-America Game, 2009 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament) of Stanford was named the Pac 12 Player of the Week. He hit .444 with a 2B, 3B, two HR and eight RBIs for the week. In his last nine games Brian has homered five times.

High School

Top 2-way prospect Trey Ball (2012 Under Armour All-America Game) was dominant on the mound in his last outing. He gave up only two hits over 7 IP while striking out 11 and topping out at 93 mph.

Madeira High School’s Andrew Benintendi (2012 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) scored three times against St. Bernard last week setting a new Ohio state record for runs scored in a high school career with 174.

JJ Bleday (2012 Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City, 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament) threw a no-hitter in the first start of his high school career for Titusville. The 2016 grad was in complete control throughout the 6-inning game.

AJ Bogucki (2012 Under Armour All-America Game) threw a complete game shutout against Spring-Ford HS last week. He allowed only four hits while striking out 10 and topping out at 93 mph.

LHP Hunter Green (2012 Under Armour All-America Game, 2012 Team One South) reportedly touched 95 mph in his last outing – a complete game 2-hitter in which he struck out 16.
