Alumni Impact #12: Hot Streaks Continue

MLB

Anthony Rizzo (2006 Under Armour All-America Game, 2006 Team One South, 2006 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) is off to an excellent start for the Cubs, hitting .277/.349/.523 with 11 doubles, 9 home runs, 29 RBIs and 4 stolen bases and earning him a well-publicized contract extension.

Jose Bautista (1999 Team One National) has really started to heat up; his stat line is now .262/.376/.549 with 8 doubles, 9 home runs and 22 RBI’s.

MiLB

Byron Buxton (2011 Under Armour All-America Game) continued his outstanding play this week with a walk-off grand slam. He is now hitting .343/.445/.594 with 6 HRs, 32 RBIs, 42 runs scored and 16 stolen bases.

Brandon Drury (2009 & 2010 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament, 2009 Team One West, 2008 Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout) has been swinging the bat very well. He is currently hitting .314 with 13 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 16 RBI’s.

College

Florida State’s DJ Stewart (2011 Team One South) was named the ACC Player of the Week and a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week after hitting .600 over a four game stretch and driving in nine runs. He also added five doubles and scored nine runs.

Cole Irvin (2011 Under Armour All-America Game) was named the Pac 12 Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season. The Oregon freshman beat Ohio State 4-0 for his second shutout of the season and third complete game overall. He is now 10-2 with a 2.64 ERA on the season.

High School

Chris Kohler (2012 Under Armour All-America Game) clinched the Baseline League Championship for his Los Osos High School team by throwing a no hitter in a 9-0 victory over Glendora. Kohler, who struck out eight on the day to break the season strikeout record at Los Osos is now 8-1 this year.

Clint Frazier (2012 Under Armour All-America Game) finished an impressive senior season, despite his Loganville squad losing in the Georgia State playoffs to Starr’s Mill. For the season, Frazier hit .485 with 17 home runs, 45 runs driven in and 56 runs scored.
