Alumni Impact #5: Season in Full Swing
College Update:
Julian Barzilli / IF / Whittier
Julian (Team One West) is having a monster year for Whittier. He currently leads the nation in home runs with 17. To go with the home runs, he has a .408 average and has driven in 50 runs.
Nick Burdi / P / Louisville
One of the nation’s top closers and hardest throwers, Nick (Under Armour All-America Game) has been dominant so far this season. He is 2-1 with 10 saves and has yet to allow an earned run on the year. He has struck out 36 batters in 21 2/3 innings pitched and is limiting opposing hitters to a .127 average.
Ray Crawford / OF / Winston Salem State
Ray (Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament) was recently named the CIAA Player of the Year. The junior outfielder is hitting .382 with 11 doubles, 2 triples and 5 home runs. He currently leads the entire nation in runs batted in with 63.
John Curtiss / P / University of Texas
John (Under Armour All-America) has settled in nicely to the closer role for the Longhorns. He is currently 1-0 with 6 saves and 1.09 ERA. Opposing hitters are batting only .157 against him.
Jacob Hoyle / 1B / Western Carolina
Jacob (Baseball Factory Premium Video Program, Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament) has helped to lead the Catamounts to a 26-13 record this spring. He is hitting .320 with 12 home runs and 39 runs batted in.
Connor Jones / P / Virginia
Connor (Under Armour All-America Game) is putting together an outstanding freshman season for the Cavaliers. The former Under Armour All-American is 4-1 with a save and has a 1.65 ERA in his 18 appearances.
Michael Polcyn / IF / Ripon College
Michael (Baseball Factory Premium Video Program) is having a huge year for Ripon. He has 11 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs, 35 runs batted in and a slugging percentage of .838. Through games of April 20th, he was leading all of Division III in hitting with a .500 average.
Bryan Soloman / IF / Eastern Kentucky
Soloman (Baseball Factory Premium Video Program, Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament) has put together an outstanding season to this point, leading Eastern Kentucky in most offensive categories. He is currently hitting .336 with 11 doubles, 8 home runs and 35 runs driven in.
DJ Stewart / OF / Florida State
DJ (Team One South) continues to pace the offense for one of the top teams in the country. He leads the Seminoles in most offensive categories including average (.362), HR (7) and slugging % (.609). He also has 13 doubles and has driven in 36 runs.
Nic Wilson / 1B / Georgia State
Nic (Baseball Factory Exclusive College Recruiting Program, Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament) continues to have one of the most impressive seasons in the college ranks this year. He is hitting .333 with 15 doubles, 13 home runs and 42 RBIs.
High School Update:
Jacob Bukauskas / P / Stone Bridge HS / Virginia
Bukauskas (Team One South) has been one of the biggest risers on draft boards this spring. He has been outstanding on the mound, using his fastball that sits in the mid 90s (and has been rumored to have touched 100 mph in recent weeks) along with a slider and a change to dominant opposing hitters.
Wyatt Cross / C / Legacy HS / Colorado
Wyatt, a 2014 Under Armour All-America selection, had a huge game last week. He went 4-5, hitting for the cycle, scoring 5 times and driving in 7 runs.
Nick Gordon / Olympia HS / Florida
Nick (Under Armour All-America Game) has solidified his spot as the best shortstop in this year’s draft, high school or college. He continues to play outstanding defense and is swinging the bat with authority. He went 3-3 with another HR in his last game.
Tyler Kolek / P / Shepherd HS / Texas
Tyler (Under Armour All-America Game) had another outstanding outing last Friday in a complete game victory. He struck out 17 in his seven innings of work. For the season, Tyler has 102 strikeouts while only allowing 5 walks. It has also been reported that the Under Armour All-American has touched as high as 103mph this spring.
Cameron Varga /P / Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy / Ohio
Cameron (Under Armour All-America Game) has been excellent every time out this spring. His last two starts he took it to another level, recording back-to-back no-hitters.
