2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament: Top 10 2015 Grads

With over 390 players participating in the 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament, powered by Baseball Factory, our scouts were treated to players from across the country that had many tools from blistering foot speed, to rockets for arms on the mound and behind the plate. While we cannot honor everyone that attended we did want to highlight a few players that stood out.

The following are the Top 10 2015 Grads from the 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament.

Dominic DiCaprio | C | Coral Springs, FL | Stoneman Douglas

Dominic is a physical young catcher with all of the tools necessary to excel at the difficult catching position. He has a durable frame, yet is flexible and receives with soft hands. He is quick to block balls in the dirt with good lateral range. He has plenty of arm strength, and combined with his clean exchange and quick feet, led to times to 2B as low as 1.80. At the plate, he has a short, quick stroke that results in lots of hard contact. Dominic is strong, athletic and skilled – a combination that will attract quite a bit of attention over the next few years.

Sati Santa Cruz | RHP | Sahuarita, AZ | Sahuarita

Santi is a solidly built RHP with outstanding stuff. He throws from a ¾ arm slot that is extremely uncomfortable for right-handed hitters. His fastball has natural run and sink sitting comfortably in the upper 80s, bumping into the low 90s. His delivery is rather slow-paced with a long, loose arm swing. The ball seems to jump out of his hand and it gets on hitters quickly. He also throws a breaking ball with 10/4 shape to it and tight rotation. Santi has the kind of fastball that can mow through a lineup and he uses it aggressively. He has the makings of a sought-after pitching prospect.

Parker Kelly | SS/RHP | Portland, OR | Westview

Parker is an extremely talented two-way prospect as a SS/RHP. He has plenty of tools, but the bat stands out presently. He has a natural, rhythmic approach and swing that already gives him the look of a high level hitter. His swing is fluid, everything is on time and he really accelerates the bat through the hitting zone. Combine all of that with excellent strike zone awareness and you have a special bat. In the field, his feet work very well and he has soft, sure hands. His exchange is clean and he has plenty of arm strength for the left side of the diamond. As a pitcher Parker has a repeatable, athletic delivery with the ability to change speeds and throw three pitches for strikes. His fastball has late life, his breaking ball shows flashes of depth and his change sinks and has deception. Overall, Parker is a very talented young player who can beat you in many ways.

Hayden Brown | SS | San Antonio, TX | Thomas C. Clark

Hayden is a talented infielder who can really swing the bat. He has an advanced approach at the plate with quick hands that lead to excellent bat speed. He attacks pitches he likes and it leads to a lot of hard contact. He is also unfazed by velocity. Defensively, he has good actions, takes quality angles and makes plays. His arm is plenty for the left side of the diamond. Overall, this looks to be a quality young player with an impact bat at the next level.

Coby Roddy | RHP | Orange, TX | Little Cypress – Mauriceville

Coby had an outstanding outing at the UAPSAA in Tucson. He is aggressive on the mound, attacking hitters with his upper 80s fastball. He gathers deliberately in his delivery and then brings everything to the hitter. The ball has life out of his hand and he pounds the bottom of the zone. He complements his fastball with an effective breaking ball that has tight rotation and good bite, and a straight change that has similar arm speed to his fastball. Overall, Coby has the look of a quality arm for years to come.

Daino Deas | SS | Lilburn, GA | Parkview

Daino is a dynamic young infielder who plays with great energy. Defensively, he has all the tools to stay at SS at higher levels. He reads balls well, is aggressive, has active feet, shows sure hands, makes a clean exchange and finishes plays with quality throws. He can also throw from different arm angles and make plays on the run. At the plate, he shows very quick hands and short, level bat path. Some refinements are necessary, but overall Daino has the look of a prospect at a premium position that will blossom over the next few years.

Alex London | LHP | Tuscaloosa, AL | North Ridge

Alex is a polished left-handed pitching prospect with some serious upside. He pitches off of his fastball that he commands to both sides of the plate. He pitches comfortably in the low 80s and touched 86 during his outing in Arizona. He hides the ball well and his fastball, therefore, gets on hitters quickly. He has two quality off-speed offerings in his sinking change that often acts as an out pitch, and his downer breaking ball that shows flashes of a legitimate swing-and-miss pitch. Overall, this young man can flat out pitch. Alex has the look of a future weekend starter for a quality program.

Grant Sloan | 3B/RHP | Zionsville, IN | Zionsville

Grant is a legitimate 2-way prospect who plays the game the right way. His large, projectable frame hints at what is on the horizon, but his present skills are plenty to get scouts and coaches excited. He has a coordinated swing with excellent barrel accuracy and leverage power. In the field he moves very well laterally and has sure hands with an accurate arm. He has smooth actions despite the large frame. On the mound Grant has a low effort delivery that results in three pitches for strikes, including a fastball that tops at 86mph. His downhill plane and ability to change speeds make him very effective. Overall, this is a top prospect who merits close following over the next few years.

Keegan Meyn | RHP/OF | Oklahoma City, OK | Yukon

Keegan is an athletic RHP/OF with a great frame and a solid collection of tools. On the mound he has a fluid, balanced delivery that results in a mid 80s fastball with good life. He throws to both sides of the plate and complements his fastball with a slider and change. He throws all three offerings for strikes and changes speeds effectively. As a position player, Keegan shows a rhythmic stroke with bat speed and power potential. He glides easily after balls in the outfield and his arm strength and range allow him to play all three outfield positions. Overall, Keegan will be highly recruited as a 2-way player.

Robert Evans | RHP | Frisco, TX | Liberty

Robert showed extremely well on the mound in Arizona. He has a quality three-pitch mix that is led by his low to mid 80s fastball that has heavy sink. He complements that with a sharp breaking ball that has 11/5 shape and is a swing-and-miss pitch, along with an advanced change that has some fade to it. Robert has a feel for pitching and a good presence on the mound. He is the rare combination of being a strike-thrower despite having the advantage of excellent movement on every pitch he throws. A good athlete on the mound, Robert should be followed closely.
