2017 All-America Road to Wrigley – Jordan Groshans

Jordan Groshans

A polished all-around game is the hallmark of 2017 Under Armour All-American Jordan Groshans. The 6’4” shortstop has the necessary, range, hands and arm to stay at that position, and looks to have an impact bat that will do damage at higher levels. His approach at the plate is quiet and efficient with a simple hand trigger to get him ready to hit. With little head movement, and few moving parts overall, Jordan uses his quick hands to deliver the barrel with consistency. Not only does he find the barrel, but he does it with authority.

We saw that first-hand at the Under Armour Futures Texas Showcase where he homered in game play off of an 89 mph tailing two-seamer from talented 2018 RHP Grayson Rodriguez. The pitch was down and in and Jordan drove it off the netting above the fence in LF.

Perhaps even more encouraging than the tools he possesses, is Jordan’s makeup. He is the first guy to the field and the last to leave. There is an inner drive for this young player who has great passion for the game and an outstanding work ethic. Perhaps growing up with a talented, baseball-playing older brother pushed him, and helped to instill some of these intangibles. Either way, Jordan looks to be a player who is determined to maximize his ability, and he is the kind of guy you want in your dugout.

Committed to the University of Kansas, we have had the pleasure to see Jordan develop over the last few years. He was the MVP of the Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament back in 2015 and has continued to get better each time we see him. The next time we see him will be at Wrigley Field at the 2017 Under Armour All-America Game, and we look forward to the impact he will make there on the big stage.
