Notebook From the Under Armour Futures East Showcase
Talented players showcased their skill sets in Jupiter, FL back in early September for the Futures East Showcase, an event that has been a springboard to players being drafted high in the MLB Draft including Brendan Rodgers, Touki Toussaint, Nick Gordon, Grant Holmes, Ryan Mountcastle, Juan Hillman and many others. Here are some other notes from our scouts at the Under Armour Futures East Showcase event:
- Isaiah Thomas – OF – (Vanderbilt) – Ran the fastest 60 time at 6.65. Showed arm strength from the OF and quick hands at the plate. 1-2 with a BB in game.
-
Elijah Cabell – OF – (LSU) – Strong, athletic frame with big time bat speed and corresponding power from the right side. Also ran a sub-7 60 and threw 91 mph raw velocity.
- Nic Daniels – RHP – (Florida International) – Well-proportioned 6’3” pitcher with a clean arm stroke and advanced feel for his change. Up to 89 mph with more in the tank.
- Henry Davis – C – (Louisville) – Energetic catcher who loves the game and plays with passion. Big time arm and quick release led to 1.78 time to 2B. RHH with line drive stroke.
Like the intensity and approach of @henrydavis32. He was 1.78 to 2B. 2019 Jake Holland is physical with qk hands and pwr. Also 1.93 to 2B

- Nander De Sedas – SS – Physical shortstop with excellent hands, a big arm (94 mph) and an excellent feel for the game. Switch-hitter with the ability to drive the ball from both sides.
- Raynel Delgado – SS – (Florida International) – Advanced hitter who has polish and barrel control from both sides of the plate. Dependable defender who can play multiple IF spots.
- Xavier Edwards – SS – (Vanderbilt) – Smooth fielder with soft, sure hands and quick release. Above average runner (6.84) who switch hits.
-
Riley Greene – OF – (Florida) – 2019 grad with a wiry strong frame and big upside. The ball jumps off his bat with big loft power to the pull side.
- Jake Holland – C – (Miami) – Another 2019 grad with a high ceiling. Big, physical catcher with solid receiving skills. Threw a 1.93 to 2B and showed quick hands with power at the plate.
- Alec Sanchez – 2B – (Florida State) – A mature, advanced hitter from the LH side that produces when it counts. Long ground rule 2B and line-out to SS in game play.
- Carter Stewart – RHP – One of the more impressive arms of the event. Clean, fluid arm stroke ran his FB up to 92 mph. Also has depth to breaking ball- all on a great pitcher’s frame.
Pitchers controlled much of the game and showed good Sept velo: Kris Armstrong (topped at 93) and @CarterStewart26 (92). #UABFFutures
