Baseball Factory and Team One Alumni Represent 10% of Opening Day Rosters
On Opening Day 2009, 76 Baseball Factory and Team One alumni earned active positions on Major League rosters. Among the 30 MLB teams, Baseball Factory and Team One alumni made up over 10% of the Opening Day rosters. Many provided exciting and impactful performances for their teams through the first week of the season.
Brian McCann’s opening day homer helped push his Atlanta Braves past the defending World Champion Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB Sunday Night opener. Through the first week of the season, McCann has homered
twice and the Braves sit atop the NL East standings. McCann was a 2001 selection to Baseball Factory’s Team
One National Showcase.
In his first opening day in the Majors, Mets left fielder Daniel Murphy homered and drove in two runs against the Cincinnati Reds. His efforts provided all the offense that the Mets would need in a 2-1 win against the Reds. Murphy, drafted by the Mets in 2003, was selected to Baseball Factory’s Team One South in 2002.

In the Orioles opener in Baltimore, second baseman Brian Roberts went 3-4 and scored two runs. His performance helped power the O’s to a 10-5 win against the New York Yankees. Roberts’ offense has played an important role in the O’s impressive 4-2 start. Roberts was a 3-time selection to Baseball Factory’s Team One National Showcase from 1993-1995.
The Texas Ranger’s Ian Kinsler went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs in a 9-1 Opening Day win against Cleveland. Kinsler concluded his opening week with 8 total RBIs and is currently 9th in the league in the category. Kinsler was a 1999 selection to Team One West.
With Baseball Factory and Team One Alumni representing 29 of the 30 Major League teams a Baseball Factory and Team One Alumni are sure to have an huge impact on the 2009 season.
