TEAM ONE AND THE ARIZONA JUNIOR FALL CLASSIC ANNOUNCE THE 2008 TEAM ONE FUTURES SHOWCASE

The Game will Showcase the Nation’s Top High School Sophomore and Junior Baseball Players

Newport Beach, CA. (August 5, 2008)
– Team One Baseball and the Arizona Junior Fall Classic have announced today that they will be joining forces to host the 2008 Team One Futures Showcase at the Peoria Sports Complex Stadium on Friday, October 24 at 6:30 PM PST.  The event will take place during the Arizona Junior Fall Classic and will be operated by Team One Baseball.

The 2008 Team One Futures Showcase will showcase thirty-six of the nation’s best rising sophomores and juniors from across the country at the Peoria Sports Complex. A committee of Baseball Factory and Team One Baseball scouts will select the players.

“Team One is proud to team up with the prestigious Arizona Junior Fall Classic tournament hosted each year by Seattle Mariners international scout Ted Heid,” said Justin Roswell, Senior Director of Team One Baseball. “By holding the Team One Futures Showcase during the Arizona Junior Fall Classic in Peoria the goal is to provide more exposure opportunities for these underclass prospects.”

In 2007 55 teams participated in the Arizona Junior Fall Classic, representing over 20 states.  In addition, over 50 different colleges and Major League organizations were represented at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic in 2007 and a similar turnout is expected for 2008.  The mission of the Arizona Junior Fall Classic and the Team One Futures Showcase are identical, which is why the two events are teamed up in 2008.  Both events bring the top underclass talent together on a national stage to compete in front of college coaches and professional scouts.

This is not the first underclass showcase held in the history of Team One Baseball.  Team One Baseball last held a premier underclass showcase in 2005.  At that time, the event was called the Team One National Underclass Game.  Notable players from that event include Josh Vitters, 2007 No.3 Overall Pick, Chicago Cubs and Blake Beavan, 2007 No.17 Overall Pick, Texas Rangers.  In addition, Christian Colon (Cal State Fullerton) and Kyle Blair (San Diego) were recently named to Baseball America’s 2008 Freshman All-American Team.
Based on their performance, players from the 2008 Team One Futures Showcase may be selected to compete in the 2009 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament or the 2009 Under Armour All America Game.
The 2008 Under Armour All-America Baseball game was recently played at the historic Wrigley Field on Sunday, August 17. Previously called the Cape Cod High School Classic, presented by Under Armour, this marked the first-year that Under Armour served as the game’s title sponsor.  This was the first-ever high school All-America game to be played at Wrigley Field. The game was telecast live nationally on ESPNU.

About Team One Baseball & Baseball Factory
In 2004, Baseball Factory and Team One Baseball, the number one company for top-flight showcases, formed a partnership to optimize the services offered to student-athletes, college baseball coaches and professional scouts.  Team One Baseball holds showcases at locations across the country where the best players from across the nation perform in front of college coaches and professional scouts.  Since 1992, over 100 Team One players have been selected in the first round of the Major League. Notable Team One alumnus include AL Cy Young Winner Roy Halladay, All Star’s Prince Fielder, Josh Hamilton, Ryan Braun, Ian Kinsler, Brian Roberts, and many other big league stars and future prospects.  Together, Baseball Factory and Team One have assisted players in obtaining over $500 million in scholarships and over 2,000 players from Baseball Factory and Team One have been selected in the amateur draft with over 175 of those players going on to play in the Major Leagues.

About the Arizona Junior Fall Classic
The Arizona Junior Fall Classic was first held in 1997. Since then, Ted Heid, an international scout for the Seattle Mariners, has grown the event such that in 2007 there were 55 teams representing over 20 states.  In 2007, the event was scouted by over 50 college coaches and major league scouts.  The 2008 Arizona Junior Fall Classic will take place from Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26.
