Inaugural Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic Presents MVP Awards Home Run Derby Champion wins in a tie-breaker

Baseball Factory presented two MVP awards at the inaugural Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic presented by PUMA, which took place on July 29 in Wareham, Massachusetts.  The MVP Awards were given to the outstanding players on both the East and West squads.  The MVP award of Baseball Factory East was named after Judy Scarafile, the president of the Cape Cod Baseball League. The MVP award of Team One West was named after John Wylde, the general manager of the Wareham Gateman of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

The home run derby participants from the Team One West team were: Nick Akins (CA), Chris Parmelee (CA), Jonathan Edwards (TX), and John Tolisano (FL). The players from the Baseball Factory East team were Gabe Cohen (CA), David Christensen (FL), Aaron Miller (TX), and Devin Shepherd (CA).  Parmelee and Shepherd advanced to the finals, with Shepherd winning the home run derby in a tie-breaker (both players tied with three homers apiece in the regular finals match-up).

The ESPNU televised Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic showcased 36 of the most talented high school rising seniors and juniors from across the nation and around the world.  The Cape Cod Baseball League served as official host for the game, providing a historic setting for this event. The High School Classic preceded the Cape Cod League’s annual All-Star Game which took place on July 30 in Hyannis, MA. 


The Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic teams were selected by scouts from Baseball Factory and Team One.  The thirty-six players formed two teams that faced off in front of 85 MLB coaches and scouts including seven MLB scouting directors.
