Ryan Jackson
Westminster Academy
For Lauderdale, FL – Westminster Academy Coach Rich Hofman looks at his sophomore shortstop Ryan Jackson and sees “a lot of similarities” with Alex Rodriguez.
“Ryan’s attitude and work ethics remind me of Alex,” Hofman said. “Both grew up in Miami and both were excellent students.”
Hofman coached Rodriguez during his long tenure and championship seasons at Westminster Christian.
The six-foot, 160-pound Jackson is a consistent all-around player, who had made only four errors in Westminster Academy’s first 26 games.
“He makes all the plays,” continued Hofman. “From a defensive standpoint he is the best since Alex.”
Hofman said it’s difficult to get Jackson off the field.
“He’s always practicing because he wants to do better.”
Jackson has been a solid .300 hitter for Westminster and Hofman believes the average and power will improve as the sophomore grows.
Jackson will spend the summer playing on the strong Midland Redskins team.
“That’s a real honor for a young player like Ryan,” Hofman said. “The team is made up of older players and plays the best summer competition.”
